The Ultimate Programming Software for Northwood CNC Stone Machining Centers
Northwood created StoneVision® with operator ease-of-use as the number one requirement.
Toolpathing even a simple shape with a bullnose, waterfall, or other profile, can
involve as many as eight separate toolpaths ranging from the initial finger bit
cut all the way through the final polishing tool. With StoneVision® all eight toolpaths
are applied with a single click of the mouse. And, each of those toolpaths are correctly
sequenced, have lead-ins and lead-outs, optimum feedrates, and even automatic slow
down for corners. Northwood's visual validation software makes it possible to review
the machining sequence on the computer screen before machine code is generated.
StoneVision® makes stone fabrication easier and the program integrates seamlessly
with StoneLaser™ and StoneScan™ technologies.
Full CAD/CAM Functions
StoneVision® includes a fully featured computer-aided-design (CAD) function that
permits easily creating (or editing) geometry. The industry standard “DXF”, “DWG”,
and “IGES” file types also can be utilized (additional file imports are also available).
Visual Validation
Machining stone countertops involves locating the material on vacuum pods and then
machining the edges with various grinding wheels and polishers. On some larger profiles,
the actual wheels can extend inwardly under the top and produce the potential to
clash with the vacuum pods. This can be a very costly problem. Northwood developed
visual validation in the StoneVision® software both to validate the tool paths and
to prevent costly clashes. In fact, the software is so advanced that it can detect
clashes even before the machine code is developed thus preventing very expensive
mistakes
StoneVision Core Technologies
The underlying CAM engine for StoneVision® is the industry leading AlphaCAM® from
Licom systems. Northwood is fully authorized for training and support of AlphaCAM®
products including developing custom post-processors. Northwood provides factory
training classes to all of its customers.

into StoneVision® (StoneScan™ & StoneLaser™) are only available for Northwood
CNC stone machines.
