At Northwood, we don’t just build CNC machines — we use them.
That’s what this two-part series is all about. We wanted to show you what it really looks like to go from a kitchen template to finished countertops, all inside a working shop powered by Northwood machines.
And when we say “working shop,” we mean it. Our Training Center in Phil Campbell, Alabama isn’t a showroom. It’s a full-production environment where real jobs get run — by real Northwood team members.
Part 1: In the Field with Robbie
The day started on the road. Robbie, who helps lead Northwood’s stone division, headed to a Northwood employee’s home in Kentucky to template his kitchen for new countertops.
We kept it hands-on from the jump:
- Templating done on-site by Robbie himself
- Layout work done the old-fashioned way — with boots on the ground
- A quick call with Chris White, our Laser Specialist and a key part of our tech support team, to dial in the next steps
That’s how we operate. No one’s above the work — especially the people who help design and build the machines that run it.
Part 2: Bringing It to Life in the Shop
Back in Alabama, it was time to move from layout to fabrication — and put the Northwood machines to work.
The Raptor took the full slab and used both the saw and the waterjet to break it down cleanly, optimizing yield and material flow.
Then each piece headed to the router for:
- Drilling faucet holes
- Cutting sink anchors
- Profiling and polishing the edges
Start to finish — slab in, finished tops out.
And all of it done on Northwood machines, inside the same Training Center where customers come to learn.
The Northwood Advantage: More Than Just Machines
This job wasn’t just for content. It was a real kitchen. A real customer. A real process.
And that’s how we design our machines — with the real work in mind.
Whether you’re templating your next job, dialing in a new workflow, or thinking about upgrading your setup, Northwood isn’t just here to sell you a machine. We’re here to help you build a system that works — based on your production goals, your layout, and where you want your shop to go.
We build it. Then we help you use it to win.
