During intake, the D2 Iris Slab Scanner’s ultra-high-definition 21K sensor scans slabs without color distortion, reflection or glare. The scanner’s vertical orientation shrinks its footprint and reduces ambient light interference, making it easy to see even the most subtle veining and texture variations. It also automatically catalogues slab properties and dimensions (length, width, thickness) for easy barcode-based inventory management. 

The D2 Iris Slab Scanner is part of a larger AI-driven ecosystem. When paired with D2 Smart Targets and Northwood’s CNC machines, you can evaluate slab dimensions, identify defects and determine optimal cutting paths for each project and material type.  

For complex project layouts, the D2 Iris Slab Scanner allows for detailed visualization and planning directly from the scanned slab images. Drag-and-drop layout tools support bookmatching, miters and flow-through applications. The scanner is also compatible with Slabsmith and other industry-standard programs.
